SPEAKING
I was probably the most unlikely teenager to ever enjoy, or even be “good at” public speaking. “Can I lead this session?” I said one day to my youth worker when I was fifteen. She was understandably apprehensive at this request. Not because of my ability, but up until then, I didn’t speak, I mean I could physically speak but I was painfully shy, and had never been in an environment where I felt that my voice was valued. That I’d ever be listened to. I stood up and delivered that session with confidence that day, and since then I have never looked back.
Since those early school days, I have gone onto deliver speeches and talks for a wide range of events and organisations. I’ve spoken on Live Radio, delivered small group workshops for young people, lead conferences and shared lived experiences at World Mental Health Day events.
If you’re interested in hearing me talk on any of these topics, please do get in touch:
